What Constitutes Animal Cruelty? Acts of violence or neglect made against animals are considered animal cruelty. Examples include overt abuse, dog fighting, and being neglected or denied the basic necessities of care, such as food, water, shelter, sanitation, grooming and veterinary care. Neglect is the failure to provide an animal with the most basic of requirements of food, water, shelter and veterinary care.Neglect is often the result of simple ignorance on the animal owner's part and is usually handled by requiring the owner to correct the situation.
Patrick the Dog Starved -Thrown Away As Garbage
The 22 story apartment building is equipped with garbage chutes on each floor for tenants. Someone had no more use for this dog. They had starved it to near death, put it in a garbage bag and threw it down the garbage chute. A maintenance worker cleans out the bin every few days and on Wednesday, March 16th, they were cleaning out the contents of the container to go directly into a trash compacter. The bag moved a little and the worker opened it to find a moribund dog inside -- pathetically thin, cold and near death.
http://njspca.org/ NJ SPCA The New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was created in 1868 and is the second oldest SPCA in the country. Its agents were established as Law Enforcement Officers in charge of investigating and prosecuting all persons involved in animal abuse and neglect.
Our mission today is the same as it’s always been. Through the tireless efforts of our highly trained and professional law enforcement personnel, we are making a difference…one animal at a time.

Guest: Mary O'Connor -Shaver Founder of Ohio Voters For Companion Animals (OVCA) To advance the humane treatment of Ohio's companion animals through education, grassroots advocacy and legislative engagement.
http://www.ohiovotersforcompanionanimals.com/ Formed in 2013, Ohio Voters for Companion Animals, Inc is an Ohio-citizen driven, community based, nonprofit corporation dedicated to increasing the engagement of the Ohio animal community in public policy and to elect officials who believe that all companion animals should be treated humanely.
Our focus will be on grassroots engagement to influence legislation to improve Ohio companion animal-welfare laws. We will also work to educate and support the law enforcement and judicial communities in the enforcement and administration of Ohio's animal welfare laws.
We firmly believe that a critical step in achieving our goal of eliminating cruelty to companion animals within Ohio is to elect candidates who demonstrate an understanding of the issues and support policies to address and criminalize deliberate acts of cruelty. We encourage everyone in Ohio who cares about companion animals to get involved in the legislative process and get to know your legislators.

Guests: Joe Dwyer- Daniel the beagle's dad , Author, Dog Trainer, Animal Chaplain. A Pet Loss Counselor and also Guest: Megan Mason-Owner/Administrator at TAKE ACTION: Help Ban Animal Gas Chambers & TAKE ACTION 2: Ban Animal Shelters in Canada.. There are still states that allow the Gas Chambers in Animal Shelters to this day.. .NEVADA, UTAH, WYOMING, OKLAHOMA, KANSAS, MISSOURI, MICHIGAN, OHIO, & MINNESOTA are confirmed states that still allow the gas chambers in animal shelters..
Daniel the beagle survived the gas chamber back in Oct 11, 2011 in Alabama. Daniel the beagle become part of Joe's family Nov 10,2011. His story gained worldwide attention. Daniel the beagle has his own law "Daniel's Law"! Ban gas chambers in animal shelters in his own state- Alabama..
Most people do not know that the GAS chambers are used in killing animals ... Putting animals in a box stacked on top of each other and closing the lid and turning up the gas . That is not the humane way !!! EBI (lethal injection) s more cost efficient and more humane. Still we have states that GAS !! First , their eyes start to burn then the air begins to thin and they begin to gasp for air. Their survival instinct kicks in they start biting and scratching trying to get out of that box !!! Their eyes can bleed and their body expels their urine and stool comes out. The poor little soul is searching for a way to live they want to live
In some shelters, cats are piled in with dogs, small dogs are mixed in with large dogs, they put live dogs on top of dead ones and they all fight each other for the last breath of air. It is time to draw the line & stop the barbaric practice of gassing animals in all states, if it is wrong in one state it is wrong in all states!
On this week's episode of Conundrum with Cougar and Slider, we look at the paranormal and psychic abilities of animals - most commonly, dogs, cats and horses. However, there have been sightings of other animals from the spirit world. Do animals perceive the supernatural? Are animals psychic? Are they telepathic? We'll check in to all these possibilities and more! Join us this Thursday, February 5th at 5:00 PM Eastern, 4:00 PM Central and 10:00 PM UK! See you there! (My cat told me that.) ;)
Have you ever meet an animal that has Fear of Failure?
Charlie KNOWS that animals can buy that they are "fearful". Having spent time in an animal shelter, he has actually seen it first hand but, ...... a dog who will not wag his tail "cause he might not do it right", a cat who will not bounce "because if she does not do it perfect, the target will get away", a hawk who will not take the "death dive" to capture his prey "because some passer by may judge he is falling from the sky and be upset by his choice to Go For It”, ….. that seems to be a choice an animal would not make!
And...... while accompanying Suzy on some the adventures of expanding possibilities for animals and people he has deployed her on, Charlie personally witnessed first hand many, many, many people who FROZE at the possibility that they might fail!! Yep, chose not to do something, AT ALL, because they had no guarantee that they would succeed. So very perplexing to Charlie's "animal knowing" of life and living.
Charlie and his "mouth piece" Suzy Godsey are elated to have Special Guests ~ Access Consciousness Certified Facilitator Jonas Svensson join them as they explore what appears to be a vast difference between people and animals, when it comes to fear of failure. ~ Access Consciousness Certified FacilitatorSusan Lazar Hart with expansions on relationships and special appearances by Jason Rabineau and Deidra Hubenak.
Please enjoy this exciting pre-record! Charlie & Suzy

Guest: James Aspey- Animal Rights Activist 28 year old vegan, animal rights activist from Sydney, Australia. He became a Personal Trainer after winning his battle with cancer.
James helped others live healthier, more positive lives for 9 years. During that time he learned about the health benefits of cutting meat from his diet and went vegetarian. Soon later, after learning about the horrors of the egg and dairy industry, he became vegan for ethical reasons. James then took a 365 day vow of silence to raise awareness for animals and promote peace over violence, in his campaign, Voiceless365.
"As the clock struck midnight on January 1st, 2014, I commenced a vow of silence for 365 days. What this means is I voluntarily sacrificed my ability to speak for an entire year! Needless to say... It was a serious challenge!
I drove half way around Australia, volunteering at rescue farms, nursed a rescued bobby calf from nearly dying in my arms back to health, worked on the boats in protest of a shark cull, experienced the horror of factory farms with my own eyes, went to Bali to get tattoos representing animal rights and veganism, handed out hundreds of vegan advocacy DVD's and everywhere I go promoting compassion to ALL living beings while remaining entirely voiceless!
In the last quarter of my journey and cycled over 5000km's from Darwin to Sydney due to my not-so-trusty van breaking down in the middle of the Western Australian outback.
It was the adventure of a lifetime!
On this episode of The Missy Show, we will be exploring the topic of animals and mental illness. Most of us are familiar with the mental disorders that can affect humans, such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsion, or post traumatic stress disorder; but can animals also be affected by these afflictions? Join hosts J and D as they seek to answer this question and address potential solutions. Saturday, March 21st at 10 pm entral. Don't miss it!

About 2.7 million healthy, adoptable cats and dogs—about one every 11 seconds—are put down in U.S. shelters each year. Often these animals are the offspring of cherished family pets. Spay/neuter is a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation, ensuring that every pet has a family to love them.
A "no-kill" shelter is an animal shelter that does not kill healthy or treatable animals even when the shelter is full, reserving euthanasia for terminally ill animals or those considered dangerous to public safety. A no-kill shelter uses many strategies to promote shelter animals; to expand its resources using volunteers, excellent housing and medical protocols; and to work actively to lower the number of homeless animals entering the shelter system.
