Today we will have to pleasure of interviewing Larry "Lak" Henderson on the Zurriane Show we will discuss how he is educating youth (and adults) using hip-hop music. Lak is the co-founder, CEO, recording artist and co-executive producer of Smart Music Entertainment. He has recently put out a new album calledLesson One: Hip-Hop & Education, which has gotten some very positive reviews in the media. Dominion of New York Magazine says, "Most people who use hip-hop to educate children do so badly. Lak does it so well that after a kid shares his music with you, you'll secretly download the album yourself."
Lesson One: Hip-Hop & Education hits on topics such as money management, African-American impact, history, politics, female empowerment and more, without sacrificing the integrity of the sound of hip-hop music. As The Urban Times says, "Lak is taking the reigns from the 'higher powers' that control hip-hop and bringing it back to its original essence."
Because of the topics that Lak hits on in Lesson One, and this interview is a perfect one for the Zurriane show during Black History Month and any month. That along with his Black Women's History, which is another powerful piece (this is a great songs about female empowerment). Lak is also a former radio personality at Rutgers University's WRSU 88.7 FM. You can preview the music via YouTube videos that were created for the songs.
