Mr Akashambatwa Mbikusita-Lewanika is one of Zambia’s leading innovative and exceptional political and business leaders, having served in numerous companies as chief executive officer and was one of the architects of the nation’s early nineties political revolution. He was a founding member of the popularly known political party the MMD (Movement for Multiparty democracy) and was at the helm of drafting the new parties manifesto and economic policies, which eventually won the 1991 polls to form government. Mr Mbikusita-Lewanika served as Minister of Higher Education and Vocational Training, Political Adviser to the country’s fourth president and until recently he was Managing Director at the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA). He is our guest on PERSPECTIVES to discuss Zambia’s current political situation and specifically to addres the effects of politicians "officiating" at traditional ceremonies.
