ZBTR round table will examine the constitution making process in Zambia which has led to the rise or creation of numerous constitution review commissions over the years and yet the nation still doesn’t have a constitution. In following with the tradition of his predecessors, President Michael Sata has named a 20-member Technical Committee to draft the new Republican Constitution.

The questions that need to be addressed are; is the constitutional review process in Zambia partisan and individual president driven considering the number of review commissions? Secondly there doesn’t seem to be any regard to the cost on the nation’s meagre resources and yet we continue to complain about poor social services? Thirdly is this just another way for party supporters and loyalists can be rewarded through commissions sitting allowances since there aren’t enough government or cabinet positions to go around?
