After sending my resume, cover letter, and a fillable-PDF that served to repeat some of the resume information (but not all of it, due to formatting restrictions limiting room), within an hour of my email submission I had received an email response with an attachment.
I -believed- that to be the quickest rejection ever, because after all, that type of email -usually- indicates a boilerplate rejection letter. (An invitation to interview would have that as the subject line, or be a phone call instead.)
But to my pleasant surprise, it was actually an essay questionnaire that all candidates who meet the initial closing date must then answer by a subsequent 7-day deadline.
This indicates a greater emphasis on technical merit and critical-thinking skills than upon how one's career inertia, i.e. upon how effectively one has kissed-up to others in the past.
I'll report on the outcome of their selection process for Lodi Administration Director, as well as how I had answered applicable essay questions.
