California Assemblymember, Joan Buchanan is the only female Democrat in the crowded special election for Ellen Tauscher's Congressional Seat in California's 10th Congressional district. By the age of 30 she had become one of the fastest rising women at Delta Dental as Director of Commercial Operations. She also spent years on the San Ramon Valley School Board where she San Ramon Valley School Board where she took on a $7 million dollar budget deficit. The San Ramon Valley School District now ranks among the top 5% of all school districts in California. Joan left the School Board and district with a rainy day fund of over $11 million.
