Nicholas Freeland Clark

I was born in Yakima,WA March 16th 1981, grew up playing sports and spending time in the outdoors. Worked in Alaska as a teenager for 3 years, finished concrete for 2 years then joined the Army Airborne at Fort Benning, GA. Graduated Airborne school in April of 2006 and was sent to Vicenza,Italy to join the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. We deployed in spring 2007 to the mountains of Afghanistan in the Korengal Valley. I was a .50 caliber machine gunner mounted on a humvee in a convey of 6 vehicles, i was the lead vehicle. On June 2nd 2007 we were ambushed with RPG's and small arms fire destroying my vehicle completely and taking the life of my roomate and best friend in the Army CPL Jacob M. Lowell. I lost my left leg and sustained some burns and shrapnel. I was evacuated, treated, moved and started rehab at the Center For The Intrepid in San Antonio,TX. Medically discharged from the Army in August of 2008 and the rest is history. I now live in Cooperstown,NY with my amazing wife Kirsten and our beautiful 3 month old little girl Stella Grace. I try to pay it forward everyday and help as many vets and kids as i can any way i can do it.
