This week I'll be chatting it up about what is the meaning of "Black culture". As a Black woman, I'm now very perplexed. Several expressions leave me confused. Here are some that come to mind; "ghetto fabulous" (isn't that an oxymoron)? "Bling, bling"-- are we no longer concerned at all about 'blood diamonds'? "Keeping it real"-- exactly what are we trying to 'keep real'? Snitching... uhm, what?! Sagging pants-- I really thought that would be a passing phase but we seem to have gravitated to that as though it means more than a sign of having served time in the prison system or being part of gangs. Black on Black crime-- exactly why are we killing each other? Hey, I think you get the gist. So join me for a conversation to discuss why some of us think and do the things we deem as 'Black culture'. It's time to change our perspective and move to a higher ground. I know our ancestors are aching for change within our conscientiousness otherwise they all died in vane. (P.S.-- no racists comments or N-word usage will be encouraged or allowed). Increase the Peace!
