Ray Acosta was only in the seventh grade when he joined a local gang. He did not want to continue his education. He was going to be the leader of his gang.

His parents tried to talk to him but he would not and didn't listen.

Right before the end of school that year, he made up his mind and would join a gang doing drugs and everything he thought he was big enough to do.

However one morning while sitting in class, he was summons to the principal's office. When he arrived there he was greeted by two policemen, and the principal.

He said to himself, I haven't done anything. The policeman said to him we have a warrant for your arrest. You have the right to remain silent for what you say can be used against you. At that point, he was handcuffed and taken to jail.

To Ray's surprise, it was his mother, Mrs. Rossy Acosta who had turned him in, and asked the police to arrest him.

When Ray was released from his three week time in jail, he enrolled in Give West, an alternative school to get his life back on the right track.

His academic career spiral to great heights. He will be graduating with a 3.9 GPA. The fact that he is now graduating and has accomplished some of his goals and dreams, he wanted to credit Principal Todd Marschke and everyone at Give West.

Not only has Ray accomplished a 3.9 GPA, he has taken challenging courses that has earned him a scholarship offer from Georgia Tech.
