November is American Diabetes Month. This is simply a timely reminder to focus our nation's attention on the disease and the tens of millions of people affected by it.

The holdays are upon us...Thanksgiving and Christmas. This means lots of time spent with the family consuming very large meals and beverages some would consider not so harmful.

Diet soda is the health-conscious choice for those with diabetes and even those watching their weight, right? It has no sugar, and saves on calories, while still satisfying the sugary urge through artificial sweeteners like aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet), saccharin (SugarTwin, Sweet'N Low), acesulfame potassium (Sunett, Sweet One) or sucralose (Splenda).
