The Silence of the Aged

Do you heard the voice of the elderly. They are barely speaking above a whisper. I am trying to figure it out. They have been so accustomed to yelling at us outside, telling us that we should be in before dark, take the trash out, clean up your room and the best one, did you do your homework?
