The trending topic "Gay is the new Black" has been reappearing in the headlines lately since Queen Latifah's character on the tv show "Single Ladies" made this comment.  Of course the reference of this phrase is related to the fashion sense of the color black.  But does this phrase mean more than it being related to fashion? The Phrase appeared on the cover of  "The Advocate" magazine after President Obama was elected comparing the Gay movement to the Civil Right Movement.  "Is Being Gay the New Black?" Can the Gay movement be comparable to the Civil Rights Movement? Is the Gay movement a real movement or a fad? Are women homophobic? What impact does incorporating gay/lesbian history in schools have on children?
