The Mets, shocker, did not sign Bryce Harper but will have to continue to deal with him for potentially the next 13 years with him heading up 95 to Philadelphia. General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen cited depth and "spreading the funds around" as the reason to not make one big splash. As we've discussed on this podcast ad nasuem, however, the positive ramifications of such a signing were immediately felt in the Phillies box office and in jersey sales within the first 24 hours of the signing. This conversation has us spinning in circles, with the feeling of the Wilpons keeping us in baseball purgatory. Depth is desperately needed, and the Mets roster has already been tested, but couldn't we...have our cake and eat it too?
