Good morning! Today, on The Meter, we will cover the growing threats from pro-Palestinian protests in America. This past week in Washington, DC, a demonstration outside the DNC left several Capital police officers injured hit with projectiles and pepper spray, leaving Democrats in fear for their safety as they fled the building. Several prominent Democrats condemned the gathering as not peaceful. Also, three people were arrested for shutting down a DC train station, the Oregon Democrat Party canceled a meeting over fears of anti-Israeli protests, and Ivy League Schools are facing investigations from the US Department of Education for antisemitic activities. Is America at risk for another 9-11 style attack? In San Francisco, Joe Biden hosted a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The 2 men discussed Covid, fentanyl, trade, AI, and cooperation. Xi said Covid was awful but took no responsibility for the virus' worldwide destruction. Xi also reprised and old America cliché, this World is big enough for the both of us. Both leaders claim to have achieved what they intended from the meeting, but many pundits gave the edge to the Chinese. What will come from talks, and is America up to challenges in the coming years. Also, in the Israeli-Hamas war, a deal is being sought for a hostage-prisoner swap as negotiations continue. So far, no agreement as IDF forces push deeper into Gaza, capturing more Hamas strong holds and unearthing more tunnels, one under a children's hospital. Casualties continue to mount as the world protests both sides. Will the conflict expand? Finally, 2024 is heating up as the Republican field shrinks, Trump lead stands, and Biden's numbers remain low. Democrat efforts to remove Trump from the ballot in key states fail. Will next year's elections be safe, secure, and free from violence? Please join the discussion at 10AM. The call-in number is 347-308-8933. Your input is essential!
