As we pass the one year anniversary of the horrific tragedy of the school shooting in Newton, CT, it is appropriate for us to spend some time discussing the undeniable increase in the number of school shootings our nation is experiencing.  Quick fact: There have been more school shootings in 2011/2012 than there were in the entire decade of the 1980s.  Something is happening . . . the "what" is not clear.   Today we consider some factors which you may not have considered, but are clearly ones that need to be.

Like many other issues facing our nation, the obvious solution is rarely the correct one.  There are underlying factors that are contributing to these shootings.  We must be willing to look beneath the surface and consider more subtle reasons . . . or a combination of more subtle reasons.  Unfortunately, the only two issues that have played well politically is "gun control" and "arming teachers" . . . neither of these ideas get at the heart of the matter.

Today we identify a few possibilities . . . what do you think?  After listening to the show, add your comments at the very bottom of this page.
