On this week's edition of HealthCare Consumerism Radio, the hosts welcome two special guests to the program for a discussion on health care payments, health engagement, life insurance, health incentives and more.

The first guest on the program will be Vineet Gulati, chief executive officer of HealthExpense. Similar to the shift from pension plans to individual retirement accounts years ago, employers are switching from defined benefit to a defined contribution that their employees control. Therefore, the employee-consumer today has to make more health insurance and health care purchasing decisions. This shift has been rapid, and consumers need to learn very quickly how to use vehicles like HSAs, FSAs and HRAs to cope with this expense-shift. In this interview, Vineet and the hosts will discuss what problems this shift is causing across the health care ecosystem and the innovations that are emerging to deal with these changes.

For the second segment on the show, the hosts will talk with Tal Gilbert, senior vice president of marketing and innovation for The Vitality Group. Tal and the hosts will be discussing an innovative new solution that brings together life insurance and wellness incentives. John Hancock Insurance recently launched a new approach to life insurance in the U.S. that rewards people for healthy living. Developed through an exclusive, first-ever life insurance partnership with The Vitality Group, the new solution integrates life insurance with a comprehensive healthy living program.
