• big boys don't cry,
• money doesn't grow on trees and life is hard
• Be quiet – what will the neighbours think or what will the neighbours say
• Kids were called names – you stupid boy, you lazy girl, greedy, forgetful, shy etc…
• If you are naughty – Santa will take you off the presents list and you won’t get anything for Christmas
• Didn’t praise much do you wouldn’t get a big head. Actually more put downs – “you think you’re smart now that you scored a goal etc”  “you’re too big for your boots”
