Join host Tom Riddell and co-host Teri Brown as they welcome author Leah Parker to The Writers Lounge. Sit back and relax as Leah discusses what it's like to be a writer and she will also talk to us about her book: Letters to a Future Nurse- A compilition of 22 writers/nurses who offer tips, insight and advice.

Leah Parker has compiled letters from 22 nurses and has shared their stories of what it is like to be a nurse in this extremely well written book. It was written to support and encourage future nurses, but I would broaden that to say that these are stories that will educate and enlighten anyone who has been a patient or may be a patient in the far to near future. These are the men and women who have dedicated their lives to be on the front lines of the healthcare system, much like the women who were on the front lines of war and who courageously attended to the injured and dying. These are savants of humanity who see us during the most vulnerable and difficult times in our lives. It truly is a demanding and complicated profession to be in. These last three years, with a worldwide pandemic, has shown us all how brave and dedicated these people can be. It has also shown us that it is a career that isn't for everyone. The stress and toll it can take on nurses and even their families can be catastrophic, but these stories will inspire you to listen to what nurses do, and it really is a good first step to anyone who is considering to be a nurse.
