    Women's Fiction with Darlene Deluca

    in Books

Today, I’m visiting with Darlene Deluca, an author who writes women’s fiction and contemporary romance. She delights in exploring relationships – what keeps people together, what drives them apart? She released her debut novel, “Unexpected Legacy” in January of 2013, and has issued several other books since then. She joins us today to talk about ‘formulas’ when writing, the relate-ability of her characters, and ‘wrapping up loose ends’ when writing a book. Join us to hear more.

The Speculative Fiction Cantina: your weekly hypodermic injection of science fiction, fantasy, horror, alternate history, and things weird and wonderful in the world of books and writers. We ask authors the hard questions. You'll hear from writers who bend the rules and drive the narrative.  Join S. Evan Townsend on this journey over the rainbow and through the looking glass.

Today's Guests are Anthony Metivier and Laura Enright

    Anthony Metivier

Anthony Metivier is the author of Lucas Park and the Download of Doom, How to Remember Your Dreams and founder of the Magnetic Memory Method, a 21st century approach to the Memory Palace Method that makes memorizing foreign language vocabulary, poetry, and the names of the important people you meet easy and elegant.

    Anthony's books include:

Lucas Parks and the Download of Doom
    The Tupperware Blitzkrieg

    Laura Enright

I was raised in Harwood Heights, Ill., a suburb bordering Chicago, growing up across the parking lot from the neighborhood tavern that my grandfather built in the 1930s. I’m all over the map when it comes to what I like in literature, music, TV and movies, but I do tend to veer toward some more than others. In short, I'm interested in any number of things, far too many for my limited free time to accommodate. As a writer I tend to stay in the fantasy and science fiction genres (adding liberal doses of humor when needed) but I’m willing to try my hand at anything, which, curiously enough, led to my three books I’ve published.

Journals of Horror: Found Fiction - Horror Anthology

    in Books

From Wikipedia.org: Found footage is a genre of film making, especially horror, in which all or a substantial part of a film is presented as discovered film or video recordings, often left behind by missing or dead protagonists.

Terry M. West and Pleasant Storm Entertainment, Inc. present a revolutionary approach to the horror fiction anthology. JOURNALS OF HORROR: Found Fiction is a collection of terror inspired by the mechanics of the found footage horror film. In JOURNALS OF HORROR, the stories presented are horrific encounters committed to paper, item or device and discovered later. Each tale is a case file that has been transcribed from some type of unearthed diary. These tales can be discovered anywhere.

This anthology is filled with some of the hottest talent in the horror fiction genre: P.D. Cacek, Todd Keisling, Glenn Rolfe, Robin Dover, DS Ullery, Essel Pratt, Michael Thomas-Knight, John Ledger, Paul D. Marks, Sonja Thomas, Paula Cappa, Stuart Keane, Darryl Dawson, Crystal Leflar, Lori R. Lopez, Michael Seese, Jeff O’Brien, Matt Hayward, Joseph Ramshaw, Michael McGlade, DJ Tyrer, Wesley Thomas, Regina West, Evan Purcell, Robert McGough, Erik Gustafson, Christopher Alan Broadstone and Robert Holt.

JOH is the first anthology written entirely in epistolary form.

Saints and Saintly Fiction -- Write Stuff -- 12/9/2014

    in Radio

Anyone who knows me knows that I love sci-fi monster movies. The Cave, Alien Franchise, Predator series and others from across the board comes to mind. I tend to enjoy them because I grew up watching them. In a recent discussion with some fellow speculative fiction authors, we went back and forth on issues about what's appropriate for Christian to watch. I maintained there was nothing wrong with me watching these kinds of movies and allowed for others to disagree with me.

The conversation then spilled over into reading. I read all kinds of books secular and non-secular. I'm a reader. However, I've become more increasingly selective as to what I read because I want to enjoy a good book. As I'm exposed to Christian authors from all walks, this thought led me to the current redefinition of what is appropriate for 'saintly fiction'. After all, I have met Christian writers who write all over the spectrum. So the question comes to mind, what is saintly fiction? Who determines it?

Join me as I talked with Jeremy Bullard, debut author of 'GemWorld' as we discuss these issues. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV radio mobile app today. Any way you can, join us

SOL LUCKMAN ON CONSCIOUS EVOLUTION THROUGH ART, FICTION, AND NON-FICTION

    in Culture

ENVISION THIS:  consciousness creates our world!

Sol Luckman is a prolific visual artist and innovator in the field of ink painting as well as a critically acclaimed author of fiction and nonfiction. Sol’s paintings are expressionistic works on canvas and paper that inspire the imagination, uplift the spirit, and amaze the eye.  His vision of the world is deeply shamanic, as a place not wholly solid, but informed by a kinetic vibrancy that is fundamentally conscious.

Sol’s non-fiction presents a conscious healing method called Regenetics, allowing us to potentiate our DNA.  He presents an unparalleled synthesis of modern and ancient healing wisdom for anyone interested in alternative medicine, energy healing, consciousness research, quantum biology, human evolution, or personal enlightenment.  Sol’s Conscious Healing is a bestselling, reader-friendly narrative that details his experience of chronic illness and miraculous recovery thanks to Regenetics.  It provides scientific substantiation for the work of alternative healers from many orientations, clearly and convincingly making the case for energy work in general.

In his fiction, Sol calls on us to awaken from our mass cultural illusion before we self-destruct.  His newest novel, Snooze, takes us on a great adventure that opens our minds to the possibility that imagination, dreams, visions, paranormal experiences, and lucid dreaming may hold the keys to resolving the ecological, economic, social, and political deadlocks we are currently experiencing.  His Beginners Luke series illustrate the power of living in the imagination—for only through it can we reinvent ourselves and our world.

The Speculative Fiction Cantina: your weekly hypodermic injection of science fiction, fantasy, horror, alternate history, and things weird and wonderful in the world of books and writers. Today's Guests are Tina Field Howe and Logan l. Masterson

    Tina Field Howe

Tina’s first book was “Snailsworth, a slow little story,” a children’s picture book which she wrote and illustrated in 2004.

In addition to writing books and screenplays, for many years Tina has been an illustrator and her day job is in corporate communications.

Tina holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology and a Minor in Art. Tina lives in Waverly, New York. She “gives back” by speaking at career seminars at public schools, meeting with creative writing classes, and speaking to individual aspiring writers.

    Tina's books include:

    Logan l. Masterson

Born in southern Missouri, and traveling the American southwest throughout his early life, Logan L. Masterson rooted himself in ideas rather than places. His world is a place of wonders, where words are magic and anything is possible. It’s also a place of darkness: good things happen to bad people and the best intentions can go terribly awry.

    Logan's books include:
