The kidnapping of Nigerian girls by Boko Haram  shocked the world but seemed to show the powerlessness of African officials to stop the spread of terrorist activities. In America the threat of a terrorist attack has been the reason for the extremes in security measures at airports and public places. But the only thing these measures seem to create is more fear and distrust among the people. What is at the root of these attacks? Is it the religion of Islam?
