2015 New Era Pinstripe Bowl: Duke 44 Indiana 41 F/OT

This podcast recorded by  Jordan Maly AKA Jordan the intern podcast on Pinstripe Bowl

In a stunning turn of events, Indiana University ends their season in recognizable fashion, missing a field goal in overtime to lose the 2015 New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium Saturday. The best kicker in the Big Ten, Griffen Oakes, misses 2 field goals on Saturday after only missing one the entire regular season. The most important and controversial miss came in overtime when the ball sailed over the top upright declaring that the field was no good. The play was also unreviewable, which Oakes clearly argued that he made.

The loss for Indiana is about more than just the missed field goal, but the inability to stop the run. Duke rushed for 373 yards compared to Indiana’s 278 yards on the day. The ability to stop the run has been a frustration for IU’s defense the whole entire season. Closing out games for IU has been difficult and heartbreaking.

With that said, this season has been a success. IU makes their first bowl game since the Insight Bowl in December of 2007 where they suffered a 49-33 loss to Oklahoma State.

Playing without first-team All-Big Ten running back Jordan Howard seemed to be an incredible loss to football fans that are unfamiliar with the depth of Indiana. MVP of the Pinstripe Bowl would have to go to RB Devine Redding. His statistics are as followed (impressive):
