Year Up, National Capital Region

Join "Teen Talk" special guest Michael Williams, the Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator for Year Up, National Capital Region. Mr. Williams will discuss alternative ways to receive an education in specialized areas or other routes to earn employment. Year Up is a national organization that provides 18-24 year olds with a place to learn IT skills, professional development, financial literacy and business writing skills. For five months, our students will learn these skills and earn the opportunity to move on to the internship phase, which lasts six months. These internship spots are with very reputable businesses and organizations (i.e., Microsoft, AOL, Freddie Mac, etc.). Upon completion of the program, students will also earn 18 college credits from Northern Virginia Community College and help with either college and /or job placement. We pay students through the 11 month period. The only requirement is that they have a GED or high school diploma. The program is FREE!!!
