My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor detest His correction;
12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights (Proverbs 3:11-12)

 This verse was quoted in Hebrews 12. It's not a little feel-good chapter about how to make the best of your troubles - or even about how God makes the best of your troubles....it's a story of God's love. It is a massive statement about the gracious sovereignty of God over the evil that befalls his people. The question for us is will we accept the mysteries of God's Providence and be trained by it .... OR will we kick against this chapter and demand in the time of suffering that God perform in a way that we many times have erroneously either been taught or come to understand on our own?

Let's take a look at [biblical] discipline as we come to understand the love of God together.
