The ABC Show: Kanye and Mental Slavery

As he does, Kanye West has again sparked controversy. This time around, its his comments about "400 years" of slavery being a choice. The overall response has been condemnation of Kanye's remarks, and of Kanye himself. But WHAT are people complaining about? Are we so shallow that we would spend our collective energies on soundbites, rather than the discussion or message? Is this simply who we are as a people, are have we been made this way? This reaction is about style over substance. We complain about Kanye speaking based on what he feels, and speaking in a stream of consciousness, but our reaction is worst. At least he's speaking on something real: his feelings. The mob is speaking on a soundbite, that was selected by editors, to elicit an emotional reaction. The editors succeeded.
