This November 7th is 97 years since the Czarist regime in Petrograd, Russia (later Leningrad, currently Saint Petersburg) was overthrown by Bolshevik forces in what is known as the October Revolution, which was proceeded by the Russian Civil War which lasted till the early 20s where Red Guards fought White Guards. Because of the Gregorian calendar early November was October for the Russians. We discuss John Reed, Leon Trotsky, Vladimir Lenin and other political actors and revolutionaries who helped lead to this historic revolution, which in-spite of the fall of the Soviet Union in the early 90s still influences what's going on today world-wide. We will talk about how vanguard Marxism, an organized Marxism which brought about the Bolshevik Party in alliance with the Soviet workers councils, is what helped implement the revolution in Russia before the Stalinist era. Comrades Chris Jay and Al Suarez on Radio Revolution discuss this historic day, callers are welcome.
