Enhancing Responses to Youth with Behavioral Issues: A Strategy to Decreasing Juvenile Detention and Incarceration It is critical for youth to receive meaningful treatment to prevent their involvement in the juvenile justice system, expedite their movement through the system, and reduce their likelihood of reoffending. In the past decade a lot has been learned about what works and how certain treatments that are evidence-based, involve the family, and tailored to the youth are the most successful and ultimately, the least costly. This show will focus on community and home-based models that are being implemented around Ohio to meet the mental health, substance abuse, and other behavioral needs of youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Additionally, there will be a discussion of considerations for jurisdictions that desire to bring one or more these approaches to their community. Guests: Eric Baltrinic & Patrick Kanary, Center for Innovative Practices at the Institute for the Study and Prevention of Violence
