Growing up as a sharecropper's daughter in rural Mississippi, Mary H. Parker never took her educational opportunities for granted. Neither of her parents had any sort of formal education; yet, as a girl, her mother encouraged her to go to school instead of spending time working in the fields. She also wanted all nine of her children to give back to the community.

"I'm doing what I do in providing scholarships to children to fulfill my mother's dream," said Ms. Parker, the founder and CEO of ALL N ONE Security Services and one of the region's leading successful businesswomen. "I also believe it is my responsibility as a woman, as a mother, as a daughter, as a community leader and as a philanthropist to give back of my wisdom, knowledge, resources and time to teach other women and entrepreneurs."

To that end, she created the Mary Parker Foundation. Since 2010, she has given more than $600,000 in college scholarships to 90 students. She's also donated hundreds of book bags and school supplies to children through an annual back-to-school bash. Teens can apply for the scholarships through the foundation's website by completing an essay and sharing their experience in community service.
