SISFI Weekly Anti-Violence Community Advocates Crimes Report

Crime and violence has no schedule, they happen to anyone, happens at any time of the day or night, respects no one, has no age limitations, is not restricted to location, crosses all borders, asks no questions and answers to no one.

As we continue to see a rise in gangs, guns and youth violence across the country, we hear less being talked about the realities of the issues in our communities until it happens and someone is a victim. We need to change that culture immediately by applying regular open dialog in various ways that does not only require physical presence but extends virtually and allows a broader audience and levels of interactivity.

The increase in gun and gang violence speaks to many levels of how important it is that we as a community must come together and converge on these issues. A community no longer means just where we live, it encompasses neighboring communities, cities and states because the threat comes to us from various angles thus leaving us at its mercy, and so let’s open our minds to look and see the bigger picture of what is happening in our communities and why we must converge to stop, prevent and mitigate or be eradicated by it.

Advocates, non-profits organizations, clergy, educators, law enforcement and the community must all get together in the comfort of our homes, offices or places of comfort to discuss the “strategies and solutions” to these issues.  Those who wish to be anonymous should know that they won’t be seen but will be heard and that their thoughts and concerns do matter.

And so we invite our fellow advocates, community leaders, clergy leaders, non-profit organizations, government agencies, groups and elected officials to join us in this collaborative effort to address the social, societal, economical, sociological and psychological issues and impacts of gangs, guns and youth violence in our communities.
