Sankofa's Daughters: Sisters and Unity Google anything pertaining to black women and the search results won't be pretty. Disease, poverty, domestic violence, and a host of other social problems will show up countless times and be presented by writers of blogs, journals, and countless other internet sites. Add to this the fervor brought on by the recent CNN special on blacks in America-and the segment on black women, and it all equals to an image of black women as troubled unmarried single poor mothers on one end of the spectrum, and highly educated male bashing childless unmarried women on the other. As black women, how do we deal with our own issues? How do we rebuild our image? And how do we empower ourselves collectively to build the world we want to see? Join a select panel of Sankofa's Daughters members as we talk about our issues and contemplate solutions for radical positive change. Time: 9PM Date: August 22,2008
