Melanie Curtis, LMSW, is the Founder and Executive Director of Supportive Housing and Innovative Partnerships (SHIP), a nonprofit dedicated to rebuilding the lives of persons in recovery from substance use disorders through housing, green jobs and long term support.  Melanie holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver.  She has twenty-four (24) years of post graduate experience in program development, nineteen (19) years of housing experience and thirteen (13) years of experience working with persons in recovery.

SHIP provides safe and sober housing with a structured therapeutic environment. SHIP also provides green jobs through our social venture called Second Chance Building Materials Center.  We are an accredited training unit of the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and are a private school recognized by the Idaho Board of Education.

SHIP recently began a campaign called Connect the Pieces to Prevent Prescription Drug Abuse in response to the epidemic of prescription drug abuse to honor her son Michael Campbell, who died 11/10/11 due to a prescription drug overdose.  The Amazing Adventures of Pharmacist Phil is a prevention program developed by Connect the Pieces to teach children in grades K-3rd about prescription drug safety through a video game that is accessible on mobile devices.
