My name is Mike C and I am an alcoholic from Washougal Washington. I am 64 years old and have been sober for 27 years, since the day I came out of treatment in 1986 I have been right in the middle of Alcoholics Anonymous. I am what one would call a big book thumper as it is not been necessary for me to try any other methods to get and stay sober. I am still very active in sponsoring other alcoholics and have been given a life beyond what I probably deserve.

I quit drinking when I was 37 years old and retired when I was 50. I owned my own company and I applied a great deal of what I've learned in Alcoholics Anonymous to how I ran that company. It was because of that change in my business model that I was fortunate to be able to retire as young as I did. I now live a very peaceful life on a small river in the mountains of the Columbia River Gorge with my wife Traci and our two dogs. I have three wonderful children and six grandchildren all of whom live close enough that I see them regularly.

My children all watched me get sober and they know what it looks like to have a drunken dad versus a sober dad. I have been blessed.

In a very short period of time they have over 3000 participating members the difference that makes a bit unique is that they encourage the different opinions on how it works. Because like always if you get 15 Alcoholics in a room you will get 20 opinions.
