GOP House Spkr John Boehner capitulated this morning as he announced his resignation as House Spkr, effective Oct 30th.  The "Boner" man finally met reality and reality won!  He had the balls to declare in his afternoon press conference that, of course, he would have survived a no-confidence vote.  My ass!

He misses the point.  It takes 218 votes in the lower house of the U.S. Congress to (1) pass a bill or (2) defeat a bill. John Boehner had long since lost control of the GOP House Majority (218) + 30-40 hard core ultra-conservative GOP members. At any given time 40-50 GOP House Conserv. could be assembled to completely stymie any legislation proposed by the House GOP Leadership!  It was the case this time around. Conservatives had threatened to shut down the government unless Planned Parenthood was defunded.

Boehner and his top lieutenants simply did not have the stomach for another shutdown. Boehner made that known and even had a caucus this morning with obstinate GOP Conservatives, just a day after greeting Pope Francis in Washington, D.C.  It was at this caucus that it became clear to Mr. "Tan-Man" that this unreachable segment of the GOP House membership would hold steady and go ahead and do all it could to bring about a government shutdown.

Knowing this and feeding off of his close pass w/the "Sacred" (i.e., Pope Francis) the Boehner man decided to call it quits to avoid a no-win outcome and the inevitable clusterfuck it would result in if he remained as House Speaker while his GOP contingent orchestrated yet another government shutdown.

Boehner's House Speakership was the most obstreperous & unproductive in U.S. history - he lost on Obamacare, DOMA, Gay Marriage, Climate Change, the Iranian nuclear deal & the Keystone Pipeline & the GOP stands to lose on Immigration reform. Still, Boehner was a great fundraiser and he cut quite a figure
