What happened to the village?

Many of us remember the old saying that ' It takes a village to raise a child ',  first, however, it takes villagers in order to have a village. This appears to be the current state in our community, the people, the morals and the standards that were natural safeguards for our children are no longer around. The question is what happened to them? Did they just disappear and fade with the passage of time or have people changed so much that we no longer care about each other the way we used to? In the past correcting a child was seen as the duty of all responsible adults with the goal in mind of teaching the child a life lesson, nowadays this lesson could cost you your life.
