"Narcissists make the most interesting criminals and I’ve sat across from some of the most interesting.  I leveraged my experiences from the interview room along with the training and experience I’ve received from my time as a Hostage Negotiator and Investigator from my 15 years with the nypd (10 as a detective) and formulated a technique which helps people understand their enemy and prepares them for the long road of separation, change and independence that lies ahead." says today's special guest, retired NYC Police Department hostage negotiator Vincent Guastamacchia.

He was promoted to Detective in 2002 Vincent and assigned as an Undercover Detective in the Narcotics Division tasked to purchase Narcotics for the Police Department. Vincent personally conducted over a thousand investigations including nine kidnappings with 100% recovery.

As a member of The New York City’s Hostage Negotiation Team, Vincent was present at the scenes of multiple hostage situations, attempted suicides, barricaded perpetrator scenes and emotionally disturbed persons cases. It was Vincent’s responsibility to initiate communication with the individuals, develop a rapport and persuade them to consider alternative options. He successfully negotiated 27 hostage situations without injury or loss of life.
