Host, Xavier Mejia sits down to talk with Dr. Eduardo Lara. Dr. Eduardo Lara, a twenty-year educator and recognized expert in teaching, learning, and urban education, has announced his candidacy to replace Board Member John McGinnis, who has announced that he will not seek re-election. 

Dr. Eduardo Lara lives in the LBUSD Third District with his husband. He has been an engaged resident of the district for over a decade. Dr. Lara served as a middle school teacher in LAUSD, Director of an Urban Education master’s degree program at Loyola Marymount University, Associate Director of the Youth Empowerment and Research Seminar at Pepperdine, and Director of Research and Evaluation for the Health Literacy Project. Dr. Lara earned his bachelor and master’s degrees from The George Washington University and his Ph.D. in Education from UCLA; he is currently a Sociologist of Education at Cal State Long Beach.
