"This Igbo and Yoruba (Nigeria) proverb exists in different forms in many African languages. The basic meaning is that child upbringing is a communal effort. The responsibility for raising a child is shared with the larger family (sometimes called the extended family).  Even the wider community gets involved such as neighbors and friends. Children are considered a blessing from God for the whole community." --Rev. Joseph G. Healey, M.M., Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

Mwalimu will address this important topic, as we are seeing our young people rebelling, joining gangs, disrespecting their parents and elders, consuming all manner of drugs from alcohol to heroine. Add to this unprotected promiscuous sex, and we all have something to worry about! It is time that we the people of Africa and the African Diaspora wake up to the undeniable fact that we have  a dilemma on our hands.

Come and join me for this much needed conversation.
