No Shame About Being HIV Positive

In this episode Nicholas Snow welcomes special guest Kevin Maloney, and participants in the RiseUpToHIV and No Shame About Being HIV Positive campaigns.  In addition, Nicholas will share and answer questions about his new memoir, Life Positive: A Journey to the Center of My Heart, now available worldwide in paperback on on Kindle.

When Kevin Maloney was diagnosed with HIV and hepatitis C in 2010, he chose to publicly talk about his diagnoses, experiences, struggles, strength and hope. He created RiseUpToHIV to educate and inspire others on a grassroots level utilizing all forms of social media. In January 2013, he started the “No Shame About Being HIV Positive” campaign. Rise Up To HIV and what people call the ‘No Shame campaign’ aim to reduce stigma through personal, firsthand accounts. Through them, Kevin has created a supportive and a judgment-free zone for others who choose to share their stories.

Kevin says we need to get people talking about HIV/AIDS again -- in schools, at the dinner table, in the car, on the radio, TV and all throughout social media.
