Puppy Mill Project

This episode your host and author of www.dogsaregiftsfromgod.com  welcomes The Puppy Mill Project The Puppy Mill Project was founded in Chicago in September of 2009 by Cari Meyers. After working in animal rescue for many years she realized that no one seemed to be talking about puppy mills and the systematic animal cruelty involved in these mills. Living in Chicago she realized that every state that bordered Illinois was a puppy mill state and that thousands of puppies were being transported through that state on their way from mill to pet store every week. She resigned from the board of the rescue she had been working with and decided to found The Puppy Mill Project. Since that time their successes have been many, including closing four stores that sold cats and dogs, helping to pass state legislation, doing school presentations and community events, and facilitating the rescue of over 100 dogs. "I dream big" says Cari, "and we will not stop until puppy mills are a thing of the past."
