Can you take out a credit card, spend the balance and let your kids pay the bill? Of course not. Yet that is precisely how we are using our welfare state. For more than 50 years, Americans have taken more perks, entitlements, from government than we have paid for. The result is a debt that is now larger than our entire economy. What will this do to our children's future? A lot - for example, it will keep them from every enjoying the same standard of living that we have.
