Last week, I was browsing through Amazon when I landed on a gorgeous book written by Mesu Andrews. Her name had been mentioned to me before by listeners and I started to scan through her book list. Excited to delve into her works, I clicked on her author bio on Amazon and saw these words: "Mesu grew up with a variegated Christian heritage. With grandparents from the Pilgrim Holiness, Nazarene, and Wesleyan Churches, her dad was a Quaker and mom charismatic. As you might imagine, God was a central figure in most family discussions, but theology was a battlefield and Scripture the weapon."

Many of us can relate to this idea of denominations clash with the Church. Further, some of us know how Scripture has been used to control, demand, or even humiliate depending on the circumstances so that the Bible becomes this tool of control instead of the Lord's repository of revelatory redemption.

How did a woman who grew up in the war-torn family of believers become an author and speaker understanding profoundly the joy of scripture? Let's find out!
