Listen to the Sat. June 4, 2022 edition of the Pan-African Journal: Worldwide Radio Broadcast hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. During the month of June we will celebrate the legacy of Black Music Month in the United States. This episode features our regular PANW report with dispatches on the announcement by a spokesperson for the Russian Federation government that the current situation in Ukraine could lead to World War III; rising food prices in Somalia are choking off the economic life of the Horn of Africa state; the nation of Chad has declared a food emergency inside the country; and a European Union (EU) military force has searched vessels off the coast of Libya in order to enforce a weapons ban. In the second and third hours we begin our commemoration of Black Music Month with a special focus on the roles of the cities of Detroit and Chicago in the origins of popular music during the post World War II era.
