The program features our regular PANW report with dispatches on the recent military mutiny in the West African state of Ivory Coast; the Zimbabwe government is intensifyinig its efforts to halt an outbreak of typhoid that has struck the capital of Harare; the ruling African National Congress is preparing to celebrate its 105th anniversary on Jan. 8; and the Syrian government is working with neighboring states to eradicate the threat of terrorism inside this Middle Eastern country. In the second and third hours we are continuing our commemoration of the upcoming 88th birthday of the Civil Rights and Antiwar martyr Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will review the mass struggle for an end to segregation in Birmingham during 1963 and the historic Walk to Freedom in Detroit on June 23 of that year.
