Issues in Black Health: African-American Women, Fibroids & Cervical Cancer

African American women develop cervical cancer more often than white women and are more than twice as likely to die from it. Uterine Fibroids are benign tumors of muscle and connective tissue inside the uterus. About a quarter of women aged 25 to 50 have such fibroids, and as many as 50 percent of black women have the growths.
