Jack Shepherd is running for Minnesota senate as an Independence candidate. He is concerned about how members of the minority community are being marginalized and excluded from a fair playing field of economic stimulus.
Shepard says, “Blacks in Minnesota's Hennepin County are 9.1 times more likely to be convicted for marijuana possession than Whites. The long-term collateral costs escalate significantly. Such disparities strip black community wealth and exacerbate equity gaps for individuals and neighborhoods in communities of color. “
