JOB CREATION: Altough there has been a great deal of money appropriated towrads job development, most of those dollars were spent for job training or vocational training. However as companies closed or downsized the employment opportunities were also greatly reduced. The areas where opportunities haveopened include: government, spirituality, family health and other areas. The Small Nusiness Development Centers have been charged with helping businesses to launch or expand in order to create job opportunities. The problem is that many do not know how to take advantage of these services. GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Applicants will provide business management and technical assistance, including short and long-term counseling, and training to clients who want to start or stabilize a small business. The SBDC program is the SBA’s largest matching grant-funded service delivery network providing high quality business and economic development assistance to small businesses and nascent entrepreneurs in order to promote growth, expansion, innovation, increased productivity and management improvement. ... The SBDC program is a broad-based system of assistance for the small business community that links the resources of Federal, state, and local governments with those of the educational community and the private sector.
