Runaway and homeless youth (RHY) are particularly vulnerable to dating violence. Many have been raised in abusive households or have experienced neglect, abandonment, or severe family conflict. Join us for this BTR session as we examine the intersections of sexual assault and domestic violence in the lives of youth at risk for couch surfing, homelessness, and life on the streets.

Presenters will discuss the unique dynamics of dating violence amongst RHY, specific issues related to LGBTQ runaway and homeless youth, and how to forge successful and sustainable collaborations amongst the RHY and anti-violence fields. Presenters:

  • Dr. Liz Miller, Chief, Division of Adolescent Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC
  • Louie Marven, Director of Education & Youth Services LGBT Community Center Coalition of Central PA
