"Peace...Through Knowledge or Love?" #478

American author, educator, and clergyman Henry Van Dyke said, "Self is the only prison that can bind the soul."  And so it is!  Every Christian who is really serious about living the Christ-life craves freedom from this bondage.  The intensity of the struggle which goes on in the hearts of countless Christians gives testimony to the great need for us to learn to let go of our selfish, sinful lives to become the new creations Jesus meant us to be.  This study of "The Freeing of the Soul" is dedicated to that end. 

So far, we've considered the true freedom of the Cross by experiencing Jesus' character qualities of humiliity, bear suffering peacefully all through the death of self, looking at true peace and joy being experienced through simplicity and obedience, and the true souirce of peace which is in the surrender of the will.  We'll continue the discussion by looking at knowledge, love, imperfections and the role of resistance and receptivity in our walk with the Lord.   Wow...this might take a while.
