Filmmaker Joe Basile’s movie WEST END premiered at Asbury Park’s historic Paramount Theatre on, April 6th, 2013 and was honored by the Garden State Film Festival with Best Homegrown Feature Award. The same year WEST END was awarded SOHO’s Pick at the Soho International Film Festival. Joe has been busy promoting his film and it will be screened at various East Coast locations including June 3 at the Hoboken International Film Festival, June 6 at the New Jersey International Film Festival, and June 30 at the Manhattan Film Festival. Joe states, “WEST END is my homage to the gritty crime dramas of the 70’s that made me want to make movies. Films that evoke emotion and make an audience feel the inner struggle of its characters.” The movie has a cast of talented actors including Eric Roberts, Neal Bledsoe, Joe Nieves, Peter Onorati, Melissa Archer, and Lou Martini, Jr. Joe feels extremely privileged to have shot the last film on the NJ coast before Superstorm Sandy’s devastation. This was the last movie shot in Seaside Heights, and the film captured some of the most iconic locations at the Jersey Shore. Actually WEST END was shot entirely on location at the Jersey Shore. Watch the trailer here. For Jersey native Joe Basile, the Director/Writer, it was imperative that WEST END be true to its roots.
