When life hands you lemons, it’s best to make lemonade. But when you’re a writer like Wall resident Nanci Smith, you put pen to paper and write about the lemonade. For years, Nanci has been passionate about writing and had the dream of becoming a professional writer. In April of this year, that dream was finally fulfilled with her self-published book “When My Heart Speaks: A Journey of Life Through Poetry, Short Stories, and Quotes.” Nanci shares her intimate thoughts on her own story of heartbreak, fear, loss, yet also of faith, freedom, friendship and love. This book is her testimony to the belief that "out of every bad thing, something great will happen." Nanci originally decided to would put all the material she have written over the last twenty years of her life in a book to leave as a legacy to her children and future grandchildren. The book became so much more than a legacy to her kids, as Nanci will share with us. Nanci and I are both intrigued by people from different backgrounds, and we share the belief that everyone, no matter who they are, has a unique story of their own.

These days Nanci has a very cool new journalism project -- interviewing the drivers of Wall Stadium for the Wall Revue. She’s uncovering the stories behind their need for speed and sharing them with the public. Be sure to listen to this interview with Nanci Smith, a dynamic lady who chased down her dream, caught it, and had it published. After the interview, please check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for additional information.
