How do you like your steak cooked? Rare, medium, or well? Do you know the best way to determine if meat is properly done? Jersey Coastal Live’s resident chef, Steve Kovarcik, is in the kitchen today to share some advice on proper cooking temperature for meats, calibrating an oven thermometer, and much more. If you’re like many people, expensive cuts of meat are not even on your menu these days. However, there are so many options to cut your costs without sacrificing any flavor or quality. One way to accomplish this is to understand cooking methods that promote tenderness and enhance flavor. Food safety is always an issue, even for home cooks, so it is important to cook foods to the correct internal temperature. You might want your beef rare, but definitely not chicken. Are you familiar with an instant-read thermometer? You will be after this show!

Now that you’re boiling and roasting and frying, just how many pots and pans do you really need? It turns out not as many as you thought, and you probably have way too much anyway. Many pans and roasters can be used for multiple purposes in the kitchen, and Steve will give us some perfect examples. Steve Kovarcik is a professional chef and culinary instructor, and believes strongly in healthy eating and eating well, so we can all benefit from his expertise. After the show, please check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for additional information.
